We know from studies that have been done into using Wegovy and Mounjaro that patients have the best outcomes when this medication is combined with some form of support. At Slimmr we provide various forms of support as standard.
Weight loss focused CBT videos
with Christine Webber
Christine is a qualified psychotherapist with many years’ experience, including working with people struggling with their weight. She holds qualifications in integrative psychotherapy as well as stress management, and practised in Harley Street for almost 20 years. She has a particular interest in ageing and health. She’s created a series of short videos for Slimmr based on CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). This is a type of psychotherapy which focuses on how your thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect your feelings and behaviours, and teaches you coping skills for dealing with different problems. While it’s usually used to treat psychological problems like depression or anxiety, the key skills are applicable to many areas of your life, and it’s well established in helping people with weight loss. It helps you approach problems in a more constructive and helpful way and teaches you to watch out for tricks that your mind plays on you that makes you focus on negative things rather than the more positive.
While the new weight loss medications have been an incredible step forward in the battle against obesity, they still require the person to make fundamental changes to their lifestyle to ensure they are most effective and that the benefits continue once someone stops. Making lasting changes can be daunting though. That’s why Christine has created a series of videos to help people gently address the underlying psychological challenges of weight loss.
Each video is only about 5 minutes long so it’s easy to fit watching them in to even the most hectic schedule. Each one takes a key topic and provides insights, techniques and tools in how to cope. The topics include things such as self-esteem, struggling with motivation, how to manage negative comments from others, embracing change, staying motivated in the face of side effects, self-compassion and learning from setbacks, as well as the importance of good sleep and ensuring you have a healthy, balanced diet.
You can watch them in any order. If you watch one a week, then the whole series will take just over 6 months to complete. Alternatively, some patients prefer to watch them in batches and then revisit them when necessary.
